How to Write About Werewolves

There are a lot of stories out there about Werewolves. But not too many of them make their characters “touchable” or “human”. The characters are usually so out of touch with their humanity that the reader really cannot connect with the character. That happens to be one of the main sticking points.

How can I make my Werewolf more human?
Werewolves cannot remember their moonlit feedings when they are in human form. They are still human yet it is not very obvious that they have an “issue”. They still have the ability to love, hate, etc that a human can have just that when the moon is out, they cannot recall anything from during the day. That means that anyone is a free meal.

What characteristics do all Werewolves have?
In werewolf form they have the body hair, bigger muscles, longer teeth and faster speed. They are more animalistic than human. They can also walk on all fours or on two legs. Depends on what kind of situation they are in.
1) Anyone is usually free game for feeding.
2) Only in Werewolf form during the full moon.
3) Cannot remember anything during the day of their nightly escapades.
4) Lives a normal life.

What should my Werewolf be called
They can be called anything. But they will not respond to their name in werewolf form.

When should my story start?
Some usually happen before the person is bitten by the master werewolf. Others start out that the character is turned.

Can my character “cure” themselves?
Only if someone close to the character tells them that they are afflicted or if they discover the fact for themselves. And they have to kill the werewolf that bit them in order to be cured.

What kills a Werewolf?

Anything Silver. Silver bullet, silver arrow, etc.
